IMANI In The News : iManifesto 2019

In December 2019, IMANI CPE released the latest edition of its iManifesto report. This year’s report aimed to assess the performance of the current Akuffo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration with regards to its fulfilment of the promises made to the people of Ghana as stated in their 2016 election manifesto.

From IMANI’s analysis, the NPP administration emerged with a marginally satisfactory score of 47.8% after three years in power.

As usual, the release of the iManifesto report garnered widespread news coverage and sparked national discourse on the results of the report. The President himself chimed in on the debate with his own assessment of his administration’s performance so far.

The objectives IMANI set prior to the release of the 2019 iManifesto were to ensure that;

1. the government keep a tab on the commitments it may not have executed to date
2. the government consolidate its accountability mechanisms in documenting and reporting on all initiatives that it has undertaken, particularly those it committed to in its manifesto and crucially
3. a basis is provided for a national discourse on sensitive issues which fall through the cracks during policy design and implementation.

With the results of the iManifesto 2019 creating such a stir in the national political zeitgeist, we believe the report has achieved a degree of success in realising  goal number three (3) and with time we wish to see the fulfilment of all the other goals set for this report and for future editions of the iManifesto report.
