Cpt. Rtd. Budu Koomson
Captain Budu Koomson is an accomplished business executive with diverse experiences and competencies both in Africa and Europe. He has over 20 years’ experience in logistics and personnel management having served as the Head of Logistics Department and subsequently the Head of Personnel Department of Stockheim GMbH & Co KG at Dusseldorf International Airport (with oversight of four other minor airports) in Germany. Having retired as a group Chief Operations Officer, Captain has vast experience which cuts across areas of Credit, Strategic Management, Project Management, and Operations. He joined UT Financial Services in 1999 as a Project Officer and rose through the ranks to the position of General Manager-Operations and Director of Operations in 2005, Chief Operations Officer in 2008 and finally as Group Chief Operations Officer of UT Holdings Ltd. in 2009. During his tenure as group COO, he was responsible for the International expansion and profitability of UT and successfully achieved this in three (3) countries outside Ghana by 2013, having established UT Germany in Hamburg. UT Nigeria in Lagos and the UT South Africa subsidiary in Johannesburg in 2011 amongst other achievements.
He had a short but adventurous career with the Ghana Army having served in roles as Presidential Guard commander, Adjutant 5th Infantry Battalion, Adjutant AFRC HQ, General Staff Officer Intelligence (G50 III INT) 1 Bde HQ served several tours of duty with the United Nations in the Middle East, and retired as a Captain in 1982. Captain (Rtd) Budu Koomson is currently the Founder and CEO of Nexus Consulting Limited. He serves as the key consultant for Nexus with clients in areas of Business, Financial Advisory and Training (especially to NBFIs and SMES), Management and Leadership. Mentoring and Coaching. Captain sits on the board of IMANI Center for Policy and Education, an internationally acclaimed Think-tank in Ghana. He is currently a Director of Bentil Consulting Limited and is the Board Chairman of both JA Plant Pool Limited and UT Private Security Services Ltd. He also sits on the boards of McOttley Holdings Limited and Axis Human Capital Limited.
