Amadeus Institute, in partnership with the General Confederation of Moroccan Entrepreneurs (CGEM), has been organizing a series of conferences concerning the accession of Morocco to ECOWAS, with the view to seek audience and explore the opportunities between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Member States of the regional community. As part of this tour, a conference on the theme: “Morocco’s accession to ECOWAS: Towards a strengthening of the West African community” will be held in partnership with the Ghanaian think tank, IMANI on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Filling its role of debate creator, Amadeus Institute initiated its regional round in Dakar on March 29th, by organizing its first conference under the theme “Morocco’s accession to ECOWAS: Foundations, challenges and common perspectives”, in collaboration with the Senegalese think tank “Agricultural and Rural Prospective Initiative (IPAR)”. Following the success of the first conference, the Institute organized a second meeting in Abidjan on April 20th, in partnership with the Ivoirian Center of Economic and Social research (CIRES), and has mobilized nearly 200 participants representing government actors, political parties, economic operators, opinion leaders, renowned experts, and academics.
The 3rd edition will take place in Accra and will count on the partnership of the Moroccan Amadeus and the Ghanaian think tank IMANI (Africa’s second most influential think tank). Throughout the day, four workshops will be held in the terms of Chatham House Rules where the Moroccan and Ghanaian delegations will debate the topics at hand and share their views on issues of mutual interest. This approach, which is in continuity with the ongoing listening process in Morocco, will allow to exchange, discuss, and confront serenely and freely views without provoking controversy.
