The Federal President of the Republic of Germany, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Ghana from 11 to 13 December 2017 as part of measures to strengthen bilateral relations with Ghana, which it considers a key ally for its operations in West Africa. Within the context of this state visit, H.E. Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier will hold bilateral talks with H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana.
A key part of this visit is a town hall meeting with the German President along with other key leaders, namely Mr Franklin Cudjoe, President and CEO of IMANI Center for Policy and Education and Ms. Lucy Quist, former Managing Director of Airtel Ghana and co-founder of the Executive Women Network. The town hall meeting will be held at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana.
Some topics that would dominate the meeting include but not limited to the following:
- Economic development in Ghana
- Ghana’s position within the sub-region and its involvement in ECOWAS
- The role of China in Africa
- Partnership between Ghana and Germany
Earlier this year, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe together with IMANI hosted Her Excellency Doris Leuthard, President of Switzerland, who took part in and delivered a speech at an IMANI-Swiss Embassy panel discussion on the theme: “Governance in the age of social media”.
IMANI uses a number of tools including research, advocacy, events, media engagements and international alliances to advocate for free enterprise policies across Africa.
